How to Make a Public Profile on Snapchat
By the View Snapchat Stories team · · 1 min read
A Public Profile is a page on Snapchat that people who aren’t your friends can see and subscribe to. It’s how creators, brands and public figures get an audience. Your normal friends Story stays private.
Create it
- Tap your profile picture (top left).
- Tap Create Public Profile (or open Settings and look for Public Profile).
- Read the screens and tap Get Started, then Create.
- Add a bio, a profile photo and optionally a website and category.
Snapchat sets a minimum age and some account requirements; if the option doesn’t appear, your account doesn’t qualify yet.

What changes
| Before | With a Public Profile | |
|---|---|---|
| Who can follow you | Friends only | Anyone can subscribe |
| Stories | Friends Story | Friends Story + public Story, chosen per post |
| On the web | Nothing | snapchat.com/@username page |
| Stats | View counts | Insights: views, completion, audience |
| Highlights & Spotlight | Not shown publicly | Shown on your profile |
Post publicly, keep private things private
When you post, Snapchat asks where. Public Story goes to everyone; My Story · Friends stays private. Check which one is selected every time; it’s the most common mistake new public creators make.
See your profile the way strangers do
Look yourself up in our profile viewer. It shows exactly what someone without a Snapchat account sees: your public Story, Highlights and Spotlight videos. If something private shows up there, it was posted publicly.
Turn it off
You can delete your Public Profile in Settings → Public Profile. Your public Stories, Highlights and subscriber count go with it; your friends and chats stay.
